Amazing Trees - unusual trees from around the world

amazing tree

It was Buddha who said:
"A tree is a wonderful living organism which gives shelter, food, warmth and protection to all living things. It even gives shade to those who wield an axe to cut it down."

And Joyce Kilmer immortalised the grace and beauty of trees in poetry:
"I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree."

Here we present some of the most amazing and unusual trees from around the world. They include the Basket Tree, Giant Sequoias of California, Circus Tree, Chapel-Oak. Tule Tree. Banyan Tree, and Baobab Trees - including one with a toilet built inside it.a xenophobia. How will you eat yours?

Bye-Bye Search Engines. Hello KNOWLEDGE ENGINE - Check Out Wolfram|Alpha.

INFINITE KNOWLEDGE AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

Ever try to find a specific answer or information about something by typing your search into Google? Sometimes you can get a direct answer (like a currency conversion or a metric/standard conversion) if you type the right search, but more often then not, you get LINKS to many other sites (or worse, spamblogs) that may or may not have relevant or accurate information.

ENTER WOLFRAM|ALPHA

(screenshot)

Wolfram|Alpha is a new kind of search engine. In fact, its creators call it a "Knowledge Engine".

Want to see stats on the "International Space Station" (including even it's current location in orbit)? Just type it in. Need to solve a complex math equation? Just type it in! Want the demographic information or local weather for "Louisville, Kentucky", or the average nutritional facts for a "Pizza"? Yep - just type it in.

Click on the Wolfram|Alpha search bar above, or Click HERE to try it out atwww.wolframalpha.com. Couldn't be easier.

More specifically, according to its FAQ's page, Wolfram|Alpha is a free "computational knowledge engine: it generates output by doing computations from its own internal knowledge base, instead of searching the web and returning links" and it is designed "to bring expert-level knowledge to everybody."

Use it for combined websearching, and even insert a Wolfram|Alpha box in your Googleor Yahoodesktop, or in your blog (like the one on the right of this page). It works with all standard browsers (and your iphone too). It's intuitive and as easy to use as Google. The company even has custom intranet and corporate data solutions (Click Here). And what they don't have today, the will have soon.

Here are a few screenshots of search results on the Wolfram|Alphahomepage:

The Final Destination: Commendable 3D Effect

NEW YORK: The latest installment of “The Final Destination” franchise has been made into a 3D flick, to appear even more appealing to the viewers.With polarized glasses, viewers are bound to feel very much drawn “in” to the film (as in, being a part of the whole mayhem). The movie hit the theaters on Friday, August 28, and because it is a “Final Destination” franchise, it evidently drew a lot of attention to itself. Also because, it is the first in the series to be dished out in the 3D format.The movie has opened to mixed reviews. Though some have thrashed the movie outright, there are others who have found it to be quite endearing. A highlighted part in most talks surrounding the movie is obviously the 3D effects.Since 3D is all about making things on screen appear to leap out and head for the viewer, with the sole aim to make the those in front of the screen flinch or duck low, “Final Destination” has proven to be a worthwhile select.Along with the untimely, unsuspected, abrupt and almost always brutal deaths of the characters on screen, the viewers get to flinch too, as objects appearing out of nowhere kill the onscreen lot one by one.For 82 minutes, the film traces the common theme that runs in all the series’ ventures- death by destiny. The movie’s characters avoid an accident at the race track because of a premonition of one of their friends.However, deaths seem to have evaded them only momentarily and seeks them out one by one, in chilling regular incidents, which are etched out in gory details.

Reality TV show took a life of Pakistani young man

ISLAMABAD: A contestant on a Pakistani reality TV show drowned while performing a challenge for the program, a spokeswoman for the show’s sponsor said Sunday

Pakistani contestant Saad Khan, 32, was swimming across a lake while wearing a 15-pound backpack when he called out for help and then disappeared underwater, according to Fareshte Aslam, information officer for Unilever Pakistan, the show’s sponsor.

Horrified co-contestants and crew rushed to try to save him but could not find him in the murky waters of the lake in the Thai capital of Bangkok, where the show was being filmed, according to Aslam, who was recounting reports of those on the scene.

Divers later recovered the body of Khan, she said.

The death came during filming of the show’s 10th episode on Aug. 19, but it was not publicized until Khan’s body was returned home to Karachi.

Thai police were investigating to determine whether the death was an accident or caused by negligence, Bangkok’s Kom Chad Luek newspaper reported earlier this month. Police could not be contacted Sunday to say if the investigation had been completed.

Unilever Pakistan accepts no liability for Khan’s death, Aslam said, but added that the company is in discussions to provide for Khan’s wife and four children ‘out of rightness.’

A close friend of Khan’s, Babar Jumani, said by telephone that the family was not ready to talk to the media, and he declined to comment further.

Khan had already been eliminated in the as-yet-unnamed show’s previous rounds, but had returned for a special challenge to earn a spot in the finals.

Plans to air the reality show — intended as a promotional tie for Unilever’s Clear shampoo — were on hold. Aslam said Unilever Pakistan, a division of the multinational soap and cosmetics maker, was not involved in the production of the show, which was handled by a director and crew from the Indian entertainment capital of Mumbai.
